Forestry
Supports Guyana’s wood processing waste value chain study for the EU and Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC).
Conducting a National Gender and Forestry Study and development of a Strategy and Action Plan for the GFC.
Provides technical support to the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) and its agencies to implement the National Forest Restoration Initiative.
Porvides technical support to the MNR and Protected Areas Commission to implement the National Tree Planting Programme.
Trained GFC staff and forest sector operators to comply with the requirements of the Guyana-EU Voluntary Partnership Agreement.
Supported site assessments and community engagements in Region 10 to develop the EU-funded project “Piloting Bamboo for Restoration and Sustainable Livelihoods in Guyana” for the MNR.
Assessed forest governance indicators for EU FLEGT-VPA in Guyana for the European Forest Institute.
Climate Change and REDD+
Designed a roadmap for enhancing climate finance for high forest cover, low deforestation countries for UNDP Suriname.
Developed a strategic plan and capacity building plan for National Climate Change Committee of Guyana for FAO Guyana.
Prepared Guyana’s R-Package under the World Bank’s Forest Carbon Partnership Facility.
Agriculture
Developed and implemented an internal control system for organic certification of pineapple and cocoa in Guyana.
Evaluated the feasibility of conversion of conventional cocoa production to organic cocoa production in Grenada for IICA.
Developed a strategic plan for Organic Dominica for UNEP Panama.
Tourism
Supported the training of 24 guides for mangrove-based tourism.
Provided training, for the Guyana Tourism Authority, to new guides in tour-guiding techniques and presentation skills needed to build their capacity and enhance their tourism product.
Facilitated the training of tour guides; preparation of curriculum, manuals and handouts for training for THAG.
Contributed to the development of Health and Safety Training manual for the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana.
Biodiversity
Prepared global guidance documents for updating and aligning NBSAPs with the goals and targets of the KMGBF for UNEP, Nairobi.
Updated and aligned the draft Caribbean Biodiversity Strategy with the KMGBF for the CARICOM Secretariat.
Built the capacity of Caribbean negotiators to effectively participate in CBD COP16, including preparation and updating of a Delegate Participation Guide for the CARICOM Secretariat and the OECS Commission. 2018-2024.
Assessed the biological status of Psittacines in Guyana for the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organisation (ACTO, Brazil) and the Guyana Wildlife Conservation and Management Commission (GWCMC).
Prepared SOPs for Human-Wildlife Conflicts in Guyana for ACTO and GWCMC.
Developed a biodiversity-offset revegetation plan for Guyana for the IDB-GPL Guyana Utility Scale Solar PV Programme for communities around Guyana.
Social Conservation/KAP Studies
Supported the Pioneering of Guyana’s First National Free Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) Guidelines.
Conducted several KAP and perception studies on solid waste management, mangrove conservation and human-wildlife conflict in Guyana.
Conducted numerous engagements with Indigenous Peoples and local communities (IPLCs) across Guyana to strengthen their capacity on Forest compliance, ecosystem management and livelihoods.
Conducted multisectoral stakeholder engagement sessions, training and workshop in areas such as mangrove protection, coastal defence, grey structures, renewable energy (wind), water and wastewater, Guyana’s EEZ, alternative livelihoods and, gender and education.
Designed a national educational campaign for mangrove conservation for Guyana.
Prepared Stakeholder analyses and capacity needs for offshore island conservation and mangrove conservation.
Environmental Management
Developed a 5-year strategic plan for the EPA Guyana.
Identified policy options for the 5-year strategic plan for the Ministry of Natural Resources, Guyana.
Performance Evaluations
Conducted performance assessments of the Offshore Islands Conservation Programme (OICP) for the Environmental Awareness Group (EAG) in Antigua and Barbuda, the Blue Iguana Conservation Programme in the Cayman Islands, and of the Enonkishu Conservancy in Kenya.
